Mistakes
“Mistake” is the polite word. Below is the record, dated and cited: what happened, what a court or a UN body concluded, and what nobody has been held responsible for. Nothing here is rated on vibes — every row links to the body that said it.
“The Commission finds that Israel is responsible for the commission of genocide in Gaza.”
Two years, in order
Forty-six dated turns between the UNRWA ban and the third anniversary of the war — killing, hunger, displacement, the West Bank, the press, and the law. Drag the handle to replay the period; tap any point to read it.
The ledger
32 entries, in the order the record settled them. Each one: what happened, what was found, who found it, and whether anyone was held responsible.
The pattern is not one bad day. Each documented act was followed by a denial, a promise of investigation, and then nothing — while the policy continued. The war's deadliest single day, a famine declaration, a genocide finding and an ICC warrant all sit on the same two-year line.
Nothing in this category.
Before the window Nine earlier turns that set the pattern, October 2023 – October 2024
What they said on the record
Ten statements by ministers and the prime minister about moving Gaza's people out. Verbatim, dated, linked — and set beside what followed.
The UN Commission of Inquiry used statements of this kind as evidence of intent — the element of genocide that has to be proved — in its 16 September 2025 finding. Israel calls that report “scandalous” and says these remarks describe voluntary choices. Its position is set out under Method.
The numbers & their dates
A count without a date is a slogan. Each figure below carries the day it was published and the body that published it.
Cumulative figures run from 7 October 2023 unless stated. Where a figure is an estimate or a floor — deaths still under rubble, people still missing — the row says so.
What this page does not claim
A record nobody can falsify is not a record. These are the arguments most often made about the entries below, and what the page actually asserts about each.
What Israel says
Presented in its own terms, because a ledger that only quotes its opponents is a leaflet.
Sources & method
What gets in
A dated event that a named body has documented: a court, a UN body, a human rights organisation with a published method, or reputable reporting on figures collected by a ministry. Claims that exist only in a social-media post do not get in, even when they are true.
What the dates mean
Each row carries the date the incident became documented, not the date the war began. On the timeline, “on the record by this date” means the evidence existed by then.
The three labels
- Found — a court, tribunal or UN investigative body made a finding. The finding is named.
- Documented — the incident is established by a named body or reputable reporting, but no body has ruled on it.
- No accountability — documented harm, and no one charged, tried or even independently investigated.
Where the numbers come from
Deaths and injuries are the Gaza Ministry of Health's cumulative count — the only continuous series, used by the UN, and disputed by Israel. Deaths under rubble are not in it. Figures for the West Bank are OCHA's, which in turn compile Palestinian official data. Each row says which it is.
